  • Let us know the details of this transfer by sending a copy of the form or sending an email to Bergetta Beardsley, VP of Philanthropy. The contact information is on the form.

Required Minimum Distribution (IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution)

If you are 70 ½ years old or older, every year you can ask your IRA Administrator to transfer up to $100,000 to go directly to a non-profit organization of your choice. Because your gift goes directly to a qualified charity, the IRA distribution is excluded from your adjusted gross income and will offer tax benefits for you.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-advised funds are one of the fastest-growing, easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to support a charity. They allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then direct donations wherever they choose. There is a lot of flexibility with this type of fund, and you can contribute to the fund as frequently as you like.

Do you have a donor-advised fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines? You can give to Food Bank of Iowa directly from your fund online through GIVEdsm.

Endow Iowa Fund

Contributing to Food Bank of Iowa’s Endow Iowa Fund allows you to make a gift to the future of Iowa while receiving a generous 25 percent state tax credit. Our Endow Iowa Fund is housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. Learn more about the Endow Iowa Fund.
