Every child should have the nutrition they need to grow, learn and develop; no family should have to sacrifice food in order to keep the lights on; no senior should have to choose between meals and health care. These struggles, though, are the reality for Iowans across our state. The Food Bank of Iowa’s programs are designed to provide a solution through food assistance, even in locations without access to a food pantry or meal site.

Our Mobile Pantry Program provides farmers market-style distributions on a monthly, bimonthly or quarterly basis in communities that lack access to traditional food resources.

Our School Pantry Program places traditional food pantries inside community schools, helping kids and their families access the food they need.

Our BackPack ProgramTM provides elementary-age kids in need with a sack of kid-friendly, nutritionally balanced foods every Friday during the school year, helping them eat through the weekend.

Our Summer Food Service Program helps fill the meal gap when kids lack access to school meal programs.
