Food Bank of Iowa was honored to receive a $10,000 donation from Hormel Foods in Algona, Iowa during Hunger Action Month (September). Hormel Foods shares our mission of ending hunger, especially in the communities they serve.

“We were honored to join the Food Bank of Iowa in fighting hunger in our community,” said Joe Muzik, plant manager of the Algona Plant. “Our inspired and dedicated employees make it possible for us to help our friends and neighbors in need. We are excited to help do our part in making a difference.”

And what a difference they have made! In the last 5 years, Hormel Foods has given over $77,000 to the Food Bank of Iowa to support our programs in communities that have a Hormel Food presence. That’s over 300,000 meals provided to hungry Iowans

Throughout our 55-county service area, we serve thousands of people each year and put even more miles on our trucks. Donations such as this are vital to our day-to-day operations. It allows us to get more food to the people who need it through our partner agency pantries, school pantries, BackPack Program, and mobile pantries. Most importantly, organizations and individuals can take pride that their donation directly supports programming in their community.
