Concert to Benefit Food Bank of Iowa

Local musician Rich Richmond has announced a benefit show to support Food Bank of Iowa, including headliners Free Fallin: A Tribute to Tom Petty. The concert, which will celebrate Richmond’s 45 years on the music scene, will take place Saturday, November 17, at the Franklin Jr.High Event Center, 4801 Franklin Ave., Des Moines.

In addition to a performance by Richmond and Free Fallin: A Tribute to Tom Petty, other performers will include “Uncle Fester” featuring former members of Colt 45, Rocky Raccoon and The Deputy Dawg Band, along with some special guests! Tickets are available at https://app.tikly.co/events/3149.

“This night will bring us together in peace and love,” said Richmond. “As Paul McCartney said, ‘the love you take is equal to the love you make.’”

Proceeds from tickets, as well as funds raised in an on-site silent auction, will go to support Food Bank of Iowa’s work to fight hunger. Food Bank of Iowa serves 175,000 Iowans struggling with food insecurity, distributing 1 million lbs. of food each month.

“Rich is doing a wonderful thing by using his talents, experience, and connections to benefit Iowans in need,” said Food Bank of Iowa President and CEO Michelle Book. “We are grateful to these musicians for coming together to make this concert happen.”

During his long career, Richmond has performed with  Paladin, The Sam Chance Band, Thunder Teaz, Colt 45, Jimmy and the Jets, Whirlwind, Front Street, Mister X, Salt Creek Band, Two Can Sam, Out of The Blue, Charley Horse, Riddle Me This, Coyote, Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50’s, and Rocky Raccoon: A Celebration of the Beatles.

This is event is BYOB (bring your own beverage). Please, no glass containers; plastic and Cans only. Mini coolers are allowed, subject to inspection.
