Food Book of Iowa has been partnered with Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) since 2015. Over the years, Food Bank of Iowa built capacity in 19 schools by providing staff training, shelving, and refrigeration and freezers.

Since 2015, we have stocked DMPS pantry shelves providing 695,579 meals to students and families with food equivalent to $1,500,000.

During this very challenging time, we are committed more than ever to meeting the needs of DMPS district families. However, since this is not a typical school year and many factors are uncertain, we have made adjustments to make certain all families who need help are fully served.

Instead of stocking pantries located inside schools — challenging during COVID — Food Bank of Iowa established parking lot drive-thru pantries in neighborhoods across Des Moines. Please see the location and times noted below for your family’s distribution.

There is no cost. You will not be asked to provide identification. You may come as often as necessary. You will not enter the building. Food will be delivered to you in your vehicle. Please call us at 515-564-0330 if you have any questions.
