Backpack Buddy Volunteers

Backpack Buddies Set-Up & Assembly

Volunteers are a key to the success of Backpack Buddies. Each month more than 1,600 sacks of food are packed at our warehouse for distribution to children participating in Backpack Buddies. Volunteers are needed on a monthly basis for set-up and assembly. Set-up includes removing excess packaging from food products and breaking down packs so all items are single units. Assembly includes packing each bag, loading packed bags into boxes and stacking the boxes so they are ready for delivery to the program sites.

This opportunity is perfect for:

  • Small groups
  • Individuals
  • Anyone age 16 or older and able to lift 25 pounds

This opportunity occurs one Wednesday and Thursday afternoon per month, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. 8-10 volunteers are needed each Wednesday for set-up and 18-20 volunteers are needed for each Thursday for assembly. We are currently seeking volunteers for October through December.

Closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for a warehouse environment are required.
